The President last week announced that insurance companies would be allowed to extend the plans of those who wanted to keep their current coverage.
However, after that press conference, White said that Obama’s decision to do so, ‘undercuts the purpose of the exchanges, including the District’s D.C. Health Link, by creating exceptions that make it more difficult for them to operate.’
He also made the pointed that he agreed with the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s assessment that Obama’s solution ‘threatens to undermine the new market, and may lead to higher premiums and market disruptions in 2014 and beyond.’
Indeed, since the president made the false claim that Americans could keep their insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act, he has rushed to act after millions of people were sent cancellation notices.
This led him to announce that those who had existing plans can keep them for another year.
