Where’s my Television?

The rise of internet use has lead to a decline in television ownership. The Nielson Company which tracks T.V usage; reported a drop to 96.7% from 98.9% in television ownership in May 2011 study. The shows that you use to love, you can now find them on the internet free of charge. The news, talk shows, almost everyone has a viral stream where you can catch the programs live or day or two after the broadcast. Companies like Netflix have emerged to provide the consumer a more cheaper and convenient movie searching experience than waiting on a good movie to come on cable. The only downside may be to sports. More specifically the NFL; I must concede this one, I miss watching football on T.V. As a matter of fact I’m writing this on a Sunday, and I’m 100 percent certain, if I had a T.V, I would be watching the football games instead of typing. Although ESPN offer live broadcast on some sporting events, and each major sport offers some type of package that allows you to watch games online at a cost. Nothing beats waking up on a Sunday, putting on sweats, making a sandwich, laying on the couch and watching football all day.

Outside of that, I don’t mind the occasional jokes about my sanity, or the look of confusion from someone who have never been to my apartment before. Nope don’t mind a bit; my suggestion is to try going without your television set, don’t throw it out, just turn it off for a day, or for week or month, it’s quite a liberating feeling.
