In the Bible God makes it clear what is required of human beings and how those requirements would be judged. “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil” (Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14)
The Ten Commandments is just one section of God’s commandments and statues that has to be practiced by human beings. But there are laws and commandments that deal with every aspect of the human condition. So what was the commandment from God as it pertains to homosexuality amongst men and women?
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you. Ye shall therefore keep my statues and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:” (Leviticus 18: 22-26)
Also in the Bible it states “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.” (Deuteronomy 22: 5)
These scriptures are important aspect in proving that homosexuality is an individual choice and not something innate that is embedded at birth. Why would God condemn something he created? Why would God hold you accountable for something that you have no control of?
For a person to say he or she was born gay is to say God made a mistake, and that in itself is an abomination to God. In conclusion, I wish the best for Michael Sam and I hope he has prosperous career, I just don’t think that success will be determined by his sexual preference.
