Your Vote Doesn’t Count in America the Corporation

The President of the United States is basically the chairman or spokesperson of the corporation. So when Donald Trump gets on interview and says that Stacey Abrams was not qualified to become the governor of Georgia it carries significance. Let’s not concentrate on the fact that Abrams resume more than qualified  her to get the governor seat or any other political office for that matter. Let’s zone in on the fact that Donald Trump, of all people said someone is not qualified for a political office. The irony of that statement is beyond hilarious.

The thing about Trump’s statement could possibly be equated to your own employment. Let’s say that  you work at a job as a manager for a lot of years. Then one year you decide that you want to move up within the company. You make an attempt to get promoted to supervisor but the president of the company says you are not qualified. I can make a good guess that you not going to get promoted. It doesn’t matter what your track record is, or how much the employees like you. It doesn’t even matter that the president of the company is an idiot. You are not going to get hired; this is what essentially happened to Stacey Abrams.

When I say your vote doesn’t count; that’s what I mean. Some people may argue this premise, but what would be the basis of their argument ? I would agree with those who point out that on the local level that the people can sway the outcome of elections. I would also agree some of those local elected officials such as aldermen’s and city council members could make a difference in your community.  On the other hand, the higher you go up the political totem pole, the lower the chances that the people’s voice will be heard.

I hear some Blacks use the civil rights movement as the reason we should go to the polls. They will say my ancestors fought and died  for the right to vote and not voting is disrespectful. I would argue that so call right to vote is only one aspect of the civil rights movement in the path to humanity. I feel like the main theme of the civil rights movement was to get some resemblance to the other humans in this country. It doesn’t mean that your vote counts. It simply means that you the privilege to engage in an exercise in an activity that is meaningless.

It is hard for people to grasp the notion that they are voiceless, until something happens to prove that point. When you vote, you are nameless and faceless. You punch a ballot and keep it moving. The change in this country has always come from people standing up and putting a face and a voice to their concerns. In my opinion, that is where the true power exists. Maybe you disagree and that’s fine. I’m not trying to discourage anyone from doing what they want to do. In doing so, at the very least you would have the knowledge of what you doing. What do you think? Do you believe your vote counts? Leave your comments below.
