Are The Chicago Police Department and City Of Chicago Blackballing G Herbo By Cancelling His Shows?

G Herbo not only has went to City Hall to see what he can do to resolve the issue; he has also came up with his own ideas to try to help out. He offered to host a “keep the peace” the same week of the show. The night of the concert, he was planning on donating $20,000 dollars to Chance The Rapper’s Social Work organization. He has spoke out and expressed that he hasn’t any problems at his past shows. “It’s never been any problem, any acts of gang violence or anything like that, that should restrict me from trying to do shows, so I’m just trying to get to the root of the problem, whether I have to hire more security or whatever the case may be.” he said.

Chicago can be a dirty city. The name “Windy City” comes from politics and dirty city practices not the weather. The truth is, city officials are trying to run a smear campaign against the young homie and it sucks. Although he got arrested in February for being in a vehicle with people who had possession of illegal firearms; G Herbo is not a thug. I have met him before and went to a couple of his shows and he is cool and his shows do not bring violence. What is impressive about the young man is that he comes from an environment that is designed for people like him not to get out. He has beat the odds and has been a good example for others who come from that environment. He talked about being a artist from the street in a interview with Noisey:

“Because when you’re in the street, the ultimate goal is to get out. When you’re in the street and you got a mom at home you wanna see, you got kids at home that you love, or a grandmother you gotta support, the ultimate goal is to make your life better and your family’s life better. So if you just talking about killing and putting all negative into the world, you gonna get negative back. You have to put positive out. That’s what makes us the people we are.

You can’t really judge a person if somebody is trying to kill them and they gotta kill to survive in order to get home to their loved ones. You can’t judge a person for that. Ultimately, that’s who I speak for. Those are the people I want to touch with my music. “

I am personally proud of the young brother and love to hear him speak about and for the people in our hoods. Everyone makes mistakes, he got arrested for something, he did what he was supposed to do; so let him move forward. It is one thing to punish someone, but it is another thing, when you try to stop him from eating.
