Picture me saying this in my Joe Pesci voice from the Goodfellas movie. ‘Ok, I know this Detroit Piston guy Andre Drummond is grabbing 20 rebounds a night. He is looking like the next freaking Moses Malone out there. But he doesn’t make the roster; no way.’ I’m not going to lie and say that I haven’t seen Drummond being a beast this season. However I can’t let the hype of this season sway my picks for the team. The selections are based off the performance of the entire last season, postseason, with a tad bit of influence of this season. Like I said with Jimmy Butler, watching him thrive again when Rose went down this season, put him over the top. Now Drummond did get consideration because he played good ball last season; just not at this level. That’s why I went with my big homie Marc Gasol. In this NBA, where the big man is out shooting treys all game; Gasol is needed. You just need somebody who takes high percentage shots. That’s not going to get played out. What has made Gasol special is he still pop out on the pick and roll and hit a long jumper. He gets in down low and is the best passer at this position. He is probably the best passing big man in the game.

In a head to head match with the Detroit Pistons this year Hassan Whiteside had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. Not shabby until you look at Drummond with 18 point, 20 rebounds and 2 blocks. And Detroit Piston wins. Everything says that I should put Drummond at this slot. The only thing that is keeping Whiteside on this list is my pride. Let’s just say I’m lost and I don’t want to get directions because I don’t want to admit I’m lost. I still think on the defensive end Whiteside is more effective. And last season he was more impactful for his team than AD. It doesn’t change the fact I might get some Heat for picking Whiteside. No pun intended. I’m prepared for it, like I said earlier; I’m taking my ten against anybody. Let’s play ball! You know what is weird about Whiteside? I don’t have any history on him. I know what college he comes from, unless I look it up. Don’t remember seeing him in the McDonalds’s high school game. He just popped up and start killing. I still got my eye on him. This might be a one hit wonder selection for him. But hey, let him get his shine on. He going into a contract year this year, and I expect more of the same from him.
