Diamond D Talks about being One of the First Producer/Rappers, his D.I.T.C Crew and The Diam Piece 2

Right before Dr. Dre dropped his classic solo album The Chronic, there was another producer who was also flowing over his own beats. When Diamond D dropped his debut album Stunts, Blunts and Hip Hop in 1992, he became one of the first known producers to also be a rapper. This is not to say he was the first emcee to make his own beats. I have heard artists like Big Daddy Kane and Rakim mention that they did production on some of their music.

However, when you talk about rappers who are known for being equally dope for their production skills, you have to include Diamond D. I caught up with the Bronx native in Atlanta and we talked about those artists who followed in his footsteps. We also talked about the formation of his Diggin In The Crates (D.I.T.C) and his latest album The Diam Piece 2. Check out the video below.
