Citizens of the European Union will no longer have free access to live, work, or study in the United Kingdom after it leaves the bloc in 2019, Downing Street confirmed Monday. While a British government spokesperson said “it would be wrong to suggest” that free movement into the U.K. will “continue as it is now” after the country leaves the EU, it is unclear what new immigration policies will be put in place. Ministers have said their Brexit will allow the government to exert more control over who can enter the country.
