Hawks players’ court date next week

The hearing will be held Tuesday, June 16 at 9 a.m. and is the next procedural step in the case before a trial date is set.

Both players were charged with obstructing governmental administration. Antic also was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and one count of second-degree harassment. Sefolosha also was charged with one count of resisting arrest and one count of disorderly conduct. The players have remained steadfast in their innocence.

Attorney Alex Spiro, who represents both players, declined comment on the case Thursday. Both players have declined further comment beyond an initial joint statement and individual interviews with the media the week following the incident.

The arresting officers will also be represented by attorneys at the hearing.

Sefolosha suffered a broken right fibula and ligament damage during the arrest that led to season-ending surgery. He said the injuries were caused by the police.

The incident occurred about 4 a.m. outside the club 1OAK on April 8. Several videos of the arrest were obtained and posted by the website TMZ. Both Antic and Sefolosha have previously said the videos speak for themselves when declaring their innocence.
