Heroes, Villains, and the NBA Championship

We saw reflection, introspection and joy on the players faces. It seems like everything that the Spurs do as a staff and a team is handled with class and professionalism. Of course I used their championship opponents the Miami Heat as a contrast in behavior but that doesn’t mean I’m trying to diss the Heat organization.

Truth be told, if I won any type of championship, I would want Drake and Gabrielle Union to come and party with me too. I would still be in euphoria from the thrill of our accomplishment; and the world would know it via every social network. Another truth is that the Miami Heat and my attitude are more consistent with that of the society we live in; but the Spurs are not the norm.

My friend mentioned something interesting to me that he saw watching the pre game for the final game of the series. He said when the Heat arrived to the stadium; you can see “The Big 3” in their designer suits, everyone looking slick and suave. On the other hand, he said when he saw series MVP Kawhi Leonard get off the bus; he was only wearing a sweat suit and headphones.

That was a subtle but significant observation; it signified that the Spurs were strictly about business. They just come to work, bust yo ass on the court, and then go home. It’s hard to hate on that; and quite frankly that’s what makes LeBron James and the Miami Heat such an easy target.
