Heroes, Villains, and the NBA Championship

In an ESPN interview during the playoffs LeBron acknowledged as much “I’m sports easiest target” he told interviewer Mike Wilbon. But LeBron shouldn’t feel so bad; because the villain is necessary, without him; there is no need for the hero. In the classic movie Scarface, Tony Montana described it best: “You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your fuckin fingers and say, “That’s the bad guy.”

Is it really fun rooting for the hero? I’ve found people like booing the villain as much as they like rooting for the hero. My preference is the anti-hero; villain just seems too harsh. Shaft, Mike Tyson, the “spy gate” New England Patriots; you know Bad-asses who kick butt and take names. The Spurs are too Peter Parker; I need more Tony Starks.

But then again when the world as we know it is being threatened by someone who has pre-determined his greatness (Chosen One)and declared he is “King” over the land; does it really matters who comes and saves Gotham City?
