Ja Rule’s luxury island ‘paradise’ descends into hell

The Fyre Festival, set on the Instagramable shores of the Bahamas this weekend and next, was hyped by influencers like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, and included musical acts like Migos, Lil Yachty and Blink-182.

But when attendees arrived after paying up to $12,000 per ticket, they were greeted with chaos: disaster relief-like tents, aggressive security, scant electricity and water and — worst of all — overpriced cocktails out of plastic cups.

The festival was also slated to include swanky perks like massages, sunrise yoga and guided meditation. Instead, guests arrived to garbage-strewn grounds and Styrofoam-boxed lunches of cheese sandwiches.

The headliner, Blink-182, canceled. On Twitter, the band explained, “We’re not confident that we would have what we need to give you the quality of performances we always give fans.”

The festival’s organizers copped up to the disaster on Instagram, saying, “Things got off to an unexpected start at day one of Fyre Festival . . . Thank you for bearing with us as we work through the growing pains that every first year event experiences.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, the festival’s organizers missed deadlines last month for advanced payments to its performers. Ticket holders, unimpressed with the festival’s organization, were also nervous in the weeks leading up to the festival, Page Six reported.

Organizers said that the festival’s first weekend ticket-holders would be refunded. For anyone still interested in attending the second weekend, they added, “Revised itinerary information will be shared soon.”

It’s hard to imagine anyone will want to join the festivities after seeing the disaster painted online of the festival’s first day. Twitter user @WNFIV has provided on-the-scene updates, including what he describes as Fyre Festival planner’s notebook, detailing a snack list with such gourmet items as “Welch [sic] fruit snacks,” Blow Pops and, coincidentally, Life Savers.
