Matt Barnes is Turning Himself in for Night Club Brawl

Barnes and teammate DeMarcus Cousins made headlines back in December, when after a game v.s. the New York Knicks, they exchanged blows with some patrons in the VIP section of Avenue nightclub in Chelsea. TMZ happened to be on the scene the moment Barnes and Cousins left the club and captured footage of Cousins shaking his fist and making reference to someone having Barnes in a choke hold. “Aye yo the n***a was trying to choke Matt. I hit the s**t out this n***a,” Cousins was recorded saying. Despite having gotten tangled in the confrontation, Cousins was not charged in the incident.

Days after the fight took place, the alleged victims in the fracas came forward to accuse Barnes of being the aggressor with a woman who claims to have been involved, saying that she was choked during the melee. Barnes says the fight erupted when the alleged victim slapped him in the face after he accidentally “butt bumped” her while making his way to his booth.

A couple of individuals who were not actually involved during the initial moments of the melee, Jasmine Besiso, 26, and Myrone Powell, 35, would also come forward with Powell saying he was punched and stomped out by Barnes.

It’s reported that attorney Michael Lamonsoff, who represents Besiso and Powell, has put pressure on authorities to speed up their investigation into the matter. Barnes’ lawyer Alex Spiro confirms that the Sacramento Kings star will be handing himself over on misdemeanor assault charges as early as next week.
