Several of the prisoners have been complaining that they haven’t been able to take showers and that toilets have been clogged up. As a result, the inmate overpowered a correction officer, took his keys and opened up the cells for about 37 other inmates. Some of the protestors argued that the CO was not the target, but simply the byproduct of the frustrations of the inmates.

According to Oklahoma County jail administrator Greg Williams, they are trying to improve the conditions in the prison. “We manage those conditions continually… We have contractors that come in and help us resolve that.
