Riots in Charlottesville Virginia Inspire Protesters to Bring Down Confederate Statue in Durham North Carolina

Yesterday protesters in Durham North Carolina took down a Confederate statue in Durham North Carolina. The statue, which stood on the lawns of the Durham courthouse, has been up since 1924. The group of protesters inspired by the recent riots in Charlottesville Virginia marched through the streets carrying signs and yelling “Fuck Trump.” The governor of Durham, Roy Cooper responded on Twitter to the protesters by saying “the racism and deadly violence in Charlottesville is unacceptable but there is a better way to remove these monuments.” To read more about this story click here.
