The Bell Curve Author Says Blacks not an Intelligent Race, Protesters End Lecture

Many are likening to the ensuing destruction that led to the cancellation of a talk by Milo Yiannopoulos from the University of California, Berkeley last month. Author Charles Murray was on stage at Middlebury College’s Wilson Hall for all of 20 minutes before he was finally ousted by persistent protesters.

Most noted for his mid-90’s book “The Bell Curve” in which the author professed people of color to be inherently less intelligent than Europeans, Murray was invited by the college’s political science department and it’s AEI Executive Council to give a lecture on the contents of his latest work, “Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010.” Students at the small liberal school began organizing for his arrival upon receiving word that he’d be a guest, with a petition signed by some 450 people against his appearance, to know avail.

According to witnesses, some went from attempting to intimidate the author to displaying violence, with one of the associates in his company, libertarian scholar Allison Stanger, claiming to have been pulled by the hair as she approached her car. Stanger reported having gone to a local hospital to be fit for a brace as her neck was twisted in the confrontation, she says.

“When ‘The Bell Curve’ came out, I’d have lectures with lots of people chanting and picketing with signs, but it was always within the confines of the event and I was eventually able to speak,” Murray would tell the Washington Post on Friday. “But I’ve never experienced anything like this.”
