Troy Ave’s NuPac Album Would Be Good If He Didn’t Talk So Much

In the interview, the rapper talk about his trials and tribulations that he has been going through. He talked about deceit, lies and betrayal from his friends and associates. He gave a firsthand account on the unfortunate events that have been connected with his life lately. I’m guessing this was his premise to now declare himself a man of God and someone who his anointed to be the next bulletproof rapper. Although he has been shot, accused of murder, sent to jail and got his car shot up again; it still doesn’t make him the new 2Pac.

For him to think that minimizes the legacy of 2pac as a poet, actor and freedom fighter. It also proves how delusional he is to think that all he has to do is get shot and go to jail in order to be compared to one of the best rappers ever. He even went as far to have side by side pictures of himself next to Pac pictures that highlights similar events the two men went through.

After watching his interview, hearing the title of his album and then looking at the cover; it makes me believe he may have purposely tried to go make these events happened. On the other hand, I don’t want to believe that. I don’t want to think that today’s rappers are so thirsty for clout and fame that they purposely create hardship in order to appear bigger than what they are. However looking at Troy Ave’s sequence of events, it makes you wonder.

In all honesty, the display put on by Troy Ave made me not want to listen to his music. And that is unfortunate because I enjoy most of his music. I think he has some skills on the mic. I didn’t want to agree with NY rapper Mysonne, who called Troy Ave a “clown and bozo.”

But sometimes talented artists are, clowns, characters and weirdos. Sometimes the coolest rappers, aren’t necessarily the dopest. And that will be my premise for giving Troy Ave credit for having a good album. Now would I be considered a hypocrite for saying all that bad stuff about the man and then listening to his album? I don’t think so. Like I said I was bumping his music before he start all the foolery. In addition to that; I would be lying if I tell you that seeking attention doesn’t create curiosity.

It doesn’t hurt that Dopeboy Troy has been dropping videos for this album back to back. You can say a lot of things about the kid, but you can’t say he don’t be hustling. I watched his first video “Press Spray,” and I like it.

After I saw his second video I Ain’t Mad at Cha; is when I decided to listen to his album. I like the 2pac theme that he has going on within the music. As oppose to his interviews, the music sounds like he is trying to pay homage to 2pac. The music has either a title from a 2Pac song or a sample of his music which is clever. The theme is something I don’t have a problem with.

What I do have a problem with, is Troy Ave talking on the album. He has two long ass interludes where he is once again talking about his friends betrayal and what happened outside of music. I wish somebody would have told him that nobody cares. I mean seriously, I sympathize with the tragic loss of his friend and the other unfortunate circumstances that led to his incarceration. But I don’t want to hear him talk about it for 20 minutes.

It is really annoying. In fact that is the biggest flaw of the NuPac album. Outside of the interludes, I would give his album a B-. With the interludes, I give it a C-. Is it worth checking out? Yes; but make sure you skip pass the talking part. All in all, let me know what you guys think? Have you listened to Troy Ave’s NuPac album? Do you like it? Leave your comments below.
