Target issued a statement on its website on Thursday regarding the security breach:

“We take this matter very seriously and are working with law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice,” said the company’s chairman, president, and CEO Gregg Steinhafel

The data breach has been resolved and we are focused on addressing your concerns.

Today, it’s critical for all guests to know that:
1. You have zero liability for any charges that you didn’t make.
2. No action is required unless you see charges you didn’t make.
3. We’re providing free credit monitoring to every single one of you who was impacted.
4. Your social security and PIN numbers were not compromised in this breach and we will never ask you for them. Be wary of scams.
