When people name some of the most influential groups in Hip Hop history, they tend to overlook Whodini. In a three year span from 1984-1987, they released three albums, two of those joints went Gold and one Platinum.
When I was in Atlanta, I got a chance to hear and see the group’s DJ spin at a music conference. I walked over to his booth after hearing him crank out some classic Hip Hop and R&B joints in the hallway. While standing there grooving to the music, a gentleman standing next to me said: “That’s Grandmaster Dee, Whodini’s DJ.”
I was already recording him, but after I found out who he was, it made the footage that much more special. Check out the video below.
