The “X Factor” boss has enjoyed several holidays with
the wealthy real estate developer and his wife, but the couple’s marriage fell apart and Lauren revealed she was carrying Cowell’s baby earlier this year.
The Silvermans finalized their divorce this month, leaving Lauren free to marry Cowell, but the music mogul admits he feels guilty about betraying a friend.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, “I let down a friend and I feel bad about that.”
But despite his guilt Cowell says the prospect of becoming father has lifted him out of a deep depression and insists news of his unborn son “changed everything.”
He adds, “I just wasn’t myself and I couldn’t get out of it. And then the baby happened. It was like coming out of a fog, that’s the only way I can describe it.”
