My work experience includes both higher education and the counseling field. I have worked in higher education (i.e. NIU, NEIU, & DeVry University Online) the past 14 years in various capacities. I have diverse experiences in the counseling field that includes course facilitation, individual/group therapy and counseling supervision. I am a licensed professional counselor/therapist (LPC) in Illinois, and currently supervise graduate counseling students. I have provided academic advising, professional leadership development, and personal counseling services to local community members, undergraduate, and graduate students. I have taught an array of counseling courses including: Orientation to Counseling, Family Therapy Theories, Counseling Supervision, and Practicum (Clinical Training Course). I am interested in research regarding the lived experiences of African American lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) persons and how children growing up in non-traditional households fare with their counterparts. Currently, I am an Assistant Director of an academic support department where I supervise about 43 undergraduate Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders.
