50 Cent & Floyd Mayweather Wasted Opportunity

Subsequently after his successful debut, Mr. Curtis Jackson has found a way to get into some type of “beef” with every notable rapper in the industry. That list includes, naming a few, Diddy, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Cam’Ron, and Rick Ross. In the case of Rick Ross, 50 Cent went as far as having the rapper’s baby mother do and say all types of crazy things on camera. He then took the footage he recorded, and released it on the internet, in order to embarrass the rapper.

This is similar to the approach that he is using to generate interest for the falling out he has with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The rapper turned boxing promoter, used the Twitter network to send out pictures of himself posing with, Floyd’s longtime nemesis Manny Pacquiao. At first it was thought that 50 would be able to manufacture the long awaited bout between the two; but instead the picture and the association between Manny and 50, was used to insult Floyd

This is where the soap opera/ reality show atmosphere comes to play. Because after that picture, and the media press that surrounded it, it turned into a childish display of who got the last “lick” in the petite squabble Not to be out done by his counterpart. Floyd responded by posting his own pictures of 50 Cent on Twitter, ones that included insulting captions like “boxing groupie” and “I respect the shooter not who got shot.”  The undefeated boxer might not be as skilled in the verbal art of war as 50 Cent, but he has been known to create unnecessary drama for attention also. Starting with a long running feud with his father Floyd Mayweather Sr.; the man who introduced him to the sport of boxing as a youth, you can catch Jr. disrespecting his father through various interviews over the years, also on re-runs of HBO’s 24/7.
