Why African Americans Fail in Identity-Based Politics

However, as some African-Americans move into the higher economic rungs of society and newly anointed voices/spokespersons emerge in the social, economic, and political arena as the anointed mainstream voices of the collective, they would be wise to consider whether the traditional civil rights era tactics can effectively deliver us from our present societal chaos.

As a person (a lawyer by profession) trained to examine facts and perspectives from a legal perspective, I often cast aside the emotional appeal of problems that appear before me until I have considered the hard, inevitable truths that lie at the heart of many problems my clients face whether is a civil or criminal matter. Of course, we all know that emotions play a huge role in the outcome of cases because people (jurors) inevitably place themselves in the situation of the plaintiff or defendant depending on their background and opinions regarding others.

So with all that said, let’s start at the end solution and work back towards the identity based politics issue. Now, there are countless problems in the African-American community today, but the end solution or the final result that we all want to occur is that each and every man, woman, and child receive the same opportunities to succeed as any other privileged American
